The final Assist UK site is launching this weekend!!!!
The excitement has been building for over a year now and I can't wait to get started (This is one of the few New Years that the 1st of January isn't just another day and I feel like a child waiting for Christmas day)
Assist came out of my experience of being a temp - For over a year I was temping and, as you can imagine, I spent a frightening amount of time chasing up numerous agencies taking repeat tests and travelling round London for another interview with another agency. It got worse when I was made aware of actually how much the agency was getting paid by the company I worked for and how much I got from that!(Typically it will be 20% of your salary (this can even be up to 30% for certain situations and doesn't include temp-perm / introductory fees!)).
So I got out my crayons and decided to take on the world of temporary recruitment by creating Assist UK.
Assist is a purely online recritment solution specialising in temporary administratin and support jobs. We have no agencices on the site and we do not act as an agency - Assist provides a secure and supportive environment where you can search for temporary admin / support jobs anywhere in the UK at any time at no cost, and employers search for candidates (there is not limit on this) and post as many jobs as they want for a one-off flat fee. It is very simple you see a job or jobseeker you think would be good and you message them, they then can reply to your message and when both parties are ready you can go straight to the interview with the employer.
The simplicity of the model is why it works - there is no need to complicate a simple business relationship - it also keeps costs and time right down. The only thing employers need to be aware of is that when taking on a temporary employee directly it is exactly the same process as taking on a permenant employee (unless it is for less than a week) - our resource library gives you a load of info about this and more.
I am currently reading Richard Branson's Business Stripped Bare book and there is a fantastic snippet that just shows that you can play big by keeping it simple, clear and effective:
"We needed a new computer system and we approached the big players. IBM estimated it would cost £7 million and would take months to build. We didn't have that kind of money and we didn't have that amount of time. So one of Jayne-Anne's colleagues, Kevin Revell, and a computing friend, set up the first system for Virgin Direct in his attic in Norwich. In all, it cost us £17,000."
Have a fantastic New Year and speak to you in 2009!
